The Roaches

The Roaches (505m) is a dramatic gritstone ridge and a notable Peak District Ethel, offering stunning views, rocky ascents, and excellent hiking. Part of the Staffordshire Moorlands, it features Hen Cloud, Lud’s Church, and the mysterious Doxey Pool. Popular for walking, climbing, and wildlife spotting, it’s one of the most iconic peaks in the area.

Ramshaw Rocks & Hen Cloud

Ramshaw Rocks (474m) is a distinctive Peak District Ethel, known for its jagged gritstone formations and barren, windswept landscape. Located near The Roaches in the Staffordshire Moorlands, it offers challenging climbing routes, including the famous "The Sloth", and panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. Its eerie, weathered rock shapes make it one of the most striking Ethels in the Peak District.

You can see The Roaches to the left of the map, which means we are just above the map on the right.

Axe Edge Moor

Axe Edge Moor (551m) is a prominent Peak District Ethel, forming the watershed for five major rivers, including the Dove, Manifold, and Goyt. Located southwest of Buxton, it features rolling peat moorland, sweeping views, and a wild, open landscape. While less rocky than nearby peaks, it offers a remote and rugged walking experience.

We are just below Axe Edge Moor on this map.
